The Watchbill vs StatusCake for MSPs

Updated October 13, 2026

Short answer

StatusCake and The Watchbill both check websites and alert you when one goes down, and both can produce reports you can hand to a client. StatusCake covers a wider set of monitors, including page speed, domain, SSL, and server checks, and lets you choose test locations. The Watchbill is narrower: it checks client websites from two US regions, keeps each client separate, and on its Pro and Business plans can turn an outage into a ticket in your PSA. Here's how they compare, using StatusCake's pricing page as checked on 13 October 2026.

Here is how they compare, using StatusCake's pricing page as checked on 13 October 2026.

Price at the sizes MSPs buy

On 13 October 2026, StatusCake listed Free at $0 with 10 uptime monitors on a 5-minute interval. Superior was $24.49 a month, or $20.41 a month with annual billing, for 100 uptime monitors on a 1-minute interval. Business was $79.99 a month, or $66.66 a month with annual billing, for 300 monitors on a 30-second interval. Each plan offered a 7-day free trial.

The Watchbill's Pro plan is $15.00 a month, or $150.00 a year, for 100 checks about once a minute. Business is $29.00 a month, or $290.00 a year, for 250 checks. Monthly and yearly plans are both priced. A year is ten months' price, which is two months free. The pricing page has a Monthly and Yearly toggle. On Pro and Business, 100 more checks are $8.00 a month or $96.00 a year. A yearly block is twelve months at the monthly block price, not that ten-month discount.

StatusCake's plan cards list those prices and intervals in that column order. Which plan includes Custom Locations, and which plan includes white-label reporting, could not be read from the icons on the page, so this guide says those rows are listed and does not assign them to a plan.

Reports for clients

StatusCake's pricing table lists reporting and white-label reporting. The Watchbill sends its report as an email with an HTML file the client can open without signing in. Free sends one monthly report to you, Starter adds weekly, and Pro and Business can send a branded report straight to the client. You can choose whether maintenance counts against uptime. Leave those minutes out, and the uptime percent stays untouched. Count them, and the report includes them. Maintenance windows are on every plan. The downtime calculator is the arithmetic if a contract quotes a percent.

How The Watchbill helps

The Watchbill keeps every client separate, with its own checks, status page, report, and alert address. On Pro and Business, a confirmed outage can email the mailbox your PSA already turns into tickets: ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, Syncro, ServiceNow, ServiceDesk Plus, Jira Service Management, Freshservice, Freshdesk, Zendesk, Zoho Desk, SysAid, and Kaseya BMS. It can also post to Slack or Microsoft Teams, and it can send a signed webhook or a PagerDuty alert. It does not call those products' APIs, and it does not close the ticket. How uptime alerts become PSA tickets is the mailbox setup.

Both US regions have to agree a site is down before anyone is alerted, which cuts down on false alarms. When they agree, one more check about 30 seconds later confirms it. If they disagree, the wait is about two minutes. StatusCake exports can be imported by CSV with a preview. The same comparison sits with the other monitors in Pingdom alternatives for MSPs.

When StatusCake is the better choice

StatusCake is the better fit if you need test locations outside the United States, checks every 30 seconds, page speed or server monitoring, or SMS alerts. The Watchbill does not offer those today. A check here is one HTTPS URL, about every 60 seconds, from US East and US West only. Domain expiry and certificate trust are read on that same check. There is no separate expiry email, and there is no text message.

The short version

StatusCake is a wider monitoring toolkit with more check types and locations. The Watchbill is a smaller tool aimed at MSPs. It costs less at 100 checks on the prices each vendor listed, gives each client its own page and report, and can turn an alert into a ticket. If that matches how you work, start free or see the plans.
